Game textures

PZ Blueprint draws with Project Zomboid's own sprites, cars and survivor, read from your copy of the game. They are The Indie Stone's artwork, so the planner never ships or uploads them: it reads your game folder right here in the browser, once, and keeps the result in this browser.

  1. In Steam, right-click Project Zomboid › Manage › Browse local files to see where the game is.
  2. Click the button below and choose that ProjectZomboid folder (or its media folder). The planner finds what it needs inside.
  3. Wait about half a minute while it builds the textures. Nothing leaves your computer, even if the browser's prompt says "upload".

Other ways

On a Mac, if the folder picker won't open the game, use Cmd+Shift+G and go to ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/ProjectZomboid.

Or build the textures with Python instead: download extract_game_textures.py, render_vehicles.py and render_character.py into one folder (Python 3 with Pillow and NumPy), run python3 extract_game_textures.py, then choose the atlas.png and atlas.json it writes:

Build with AI

AI gives you a first draft, not a finished base: it gets the layout going fast, but expect to move furniture and fix details yourself in the editor. The planner checks the game's rules for you (plot, doors, stairs, reach), not taste.

Any AI assistant can design a base for you. It writes a short build script (rooms, walls, rows of crates) instead of the full plan file, and the planner turns it into the real thing with the game's objects and build costs.

  1. Tell it what you want The more you say, the better it gets. Describe your plot in plain words: its size, and if it's more than one rectangle, where the parts touch (which sides, how many tiles, at which end). Also how many players, how many levels, what matters most and your server's rules.
  2. Paste it into your assistantChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any other. It answers with a build script: copy that.
  3. Paste the script here
